This book seeks to fill a void in the literature on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by examining the phenomenon not just from the vantage point of fire personnel but by doing so through the stories of firefighters themselves. In this book we present the case stories of three firefighters who, in the course of doing their jobs, developed PTSD. These men were affected by different types of stressors at different points in their careers, but the tremendous impact that the psychological trauma had on their lives is undeniable.
